Japanese Spirea
Limemound Spirea (Spirea japonica)

Description: Deciduous shrub with lemon yellow leaves with russet tinge when young then turning lime green. Summer flowers are light pink with leaves turnning orange-red with reddish stems in fall.
Size: 3 ft (0.9 m) tall and twice as wide
History: Native to Japan and China, considered highly variable and has been developed into many garden forms.
Magnolia: after Pierre Magnol (1638-1715), professor of botany at Montpellier.
