Heavenly Bamboo
(Nandina domestica)

Description: Evergreen shrub with leaves that turn red in spring, blue-green summer, and purple-red in fall. Pink flowered buds turn white with yellow anthers on long panicles. Bright red berries carried on large panicles that ripen in early fall and persist through the winter.
Size: 6+ ft (1.8 m)
Climate: Sun to shade. Adaptable to extremes of soil and exposure, prefers moist, fertile soil
History: Native range from India, China to Japan.
Nandina: from nanten, the Japanese name.
